Babymoon

We're finishing up week 24 with a big, round, happy pregnant belly. We feel the baby move all the time now, and it's getting stronger. Pregnancy may be an incredibly common experience, but it doesn't stop it from being very surreal. There is a person inside me. Moving. Dreaming. Practicing breathing. Turning somersaults. A person.

The baby's heartbeat was super strong at our last midwife checkup. I feel great – lots of energy, not too many crazy mood shifts. I'm learning my limits – I let Jay lift the rocks.

We just came back from our Babymoon – a little vacation just for us to focus on each other before the baby is born. We stayed in Ogunquit, Maine at the Meadowmere resort. Each day was gray foggy rainy, but still beautiful and peaceful. It gave us more of an excuse to spend long quiet hours reading books, floating in the resort's indoor pool (WOW am I boyant now!!) and singing in the echoy Roman spa. We got massages, too, and ate good food. Despite the rain, we walked along the chilly beach and Ogunquit's Marginal Way, a paved footpath that follows the coast. On our final night, we had a lovely date at a wonderful Italian restaurant with lots of giggling. We came back happy to be home and feeling refreshed.

Daddy-to be has just completed his Bachelor's program and received a $1,000 scholarship from his school. Baby's kicks might mean it's proud, or it might mean I just ate strawberries. We're up to our ears in house and yard projects that we want to complete before I get too huge. We've been moving gardens around, painting, looking into new flooring, and are beginning to get serious about fixing up the baby's room. A tree mural is in the development stages...
